This simple recipe will suit any brassica leaves such as Romanesco (pictured), Broccoli or Cauliflower and makes a delicious, healthy side dish.
Ingredients
Brassica Leaves
1 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 Garlic Clove – finely chopped
1 tsp Sesame Seeds
Pinch of Salt
½ tsp Coarse Black Pepper
Lemon Slice
Method
Separate the leaves from the stalk and wash thoroughly.
Slice any thick stalks lengthways to reduce cooking time. The leaves can also be cut into bite size pieces if desired.
Boil some water in steamer or use a wok and a steamer basket to steam the stalks for 15 to 20 minutes, until the thick stalks are tender.
Heat a pan on high heat, add the oil and the leaves and sauté for 3 minutes.
Add the garlic, sesame seeds and seasoning and sauté for 2 minutes until the garlic starts to brown.
Serve with a squeeze of lemon.
