JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Delivery Driver & Packing Co-ordinator

Responsible to: Veg Scheme Co-ordinator

Overall Purpose:

To assist with the veg packing and ensure the weekly veg bag deliveries go smoothly, and customers experience of collecting their bags is an easy and enjoyable one.

Main job objectives:

1. Work with the Veg Scheme Manager to sort and pack the veg bags each week.

2. To ensure that all bags are delivered accurately and on time each Thursday.

3. Deal with new and existing drop points, ensuring drop points are kept in good condition and good communication with drop point hosts is maintained.

4. Be an effective member of the Crop Drop team.

 

Main activities:

1. Work with the Veg Scheme Manager to sort and pack the veg bags each week.

  • Ensuring all bags are packed correctly and on time, with our team of volunteers.
  • Assist with set up and clearing up

2. Ensure all bags are delivered accurately and on time each Thursday.

  • You will drive the delivery van to do the delivery run each Thursday morning with the assistance of a delivery worker
  • Communicate any changes or issues with drop points, bags or deliveries with the Veg Scheme Co-ordinator and resolve

3. Deal with new and existing drop points, ensuring drop points are kept in good condition and good communication with drop points is maintained

  • Maintain relationships with existing drop points, co-ordinate and communicate changes in pick-up arrangements.
  • Carry out a range of practical tasks to keep drop points looking attractive, e.g. mending shelves, laminating new signs when necessary
  • Maintaining padlocks & security at Drop Points
  • General cleaning

4. Be an effective member of the Crop Drop team

  • Provide holiday cover for other members of the team when necessary
  • Attend and contribute towards team meetings

Person specification:

  • Full clean driving licence – you're a patient and confident driver (van owner desirable)
  • Basic DIY and carpentry skills – you can do things like fix cupboards and install shelves
  • Ability and willingness to carry out a range of physical tasks, outdoors and throughout the year
  • Attention to detail & accuracy
  • Ability to work independently on own initiative, prioritise tasks and work to deadlines
  • Responsible and reliable – we can count on you to get the job done and operate with integrity
  • Ability to carry out shared tasks and communicate effectively within a team
  • Understanding of and enthusiasm for the aims of Crop Drop – able to demonstrate an interest in local sustainable food systems

 

Conditions of employment

12 hours a week (Working days Wed & Thurs)

£24,000 p.a. (pro rata)

33 days annual leave, including bank holidays (pro-rata)

Working from our base at Wolves Lane Horticultural Centre, Wolves Lane, N22 5JD

 

All posts at Crop Drop will be expected to provide occasional ‘essential cover’ for other staff when necessary (i.e. to cover holidays and sick days).
