Changing our food system for the better

crop drop veg packing team

We're delighted to announce that we have been accepted as a fully fledged Better Food Trader. The BFT supports ethical businesses who are motivated to change the current food system. Born out of the Growing Communities Start-up programme, which supported us to create Crop Drop in the first place, it has now evolved into the BFT, a network of accredited food retailers nationwide who are similarly governed by principles that ensure they only sell food which is locally and sustainably grown, seasonal, healthy, fairly traded, low carbon and kind to people. As a collective we're able to offer a real alternative to people seeking to address the climate crisis, and work to support those farmers, growers, organisations and businesses committed to a more sustainable food system.

The panel said:

"Crop Drop’s application shows their commitment to helping people use their veg well through recipes – an impressive 10 in every newsletter! Their support of new entrant organic growers, at the London Grown and Wolves Lane project, both financially, and by providing a market for their produce, demonstrates their firm commitment to food system change. "

When committing to a Better Food Trader, you can sit happy knowing that we align with a robust set of principles, covering everything from how the produce is grown, to how much the farmers and staff are paid, to the environmental impact.

If you're looking for delicious, fresh, organic veg and we're not in your local area find another accredited Better Food Trader who is guided by the same ethical principles.
