Crop planning at Forty Hall Farm

28 Dec 2016

Last week Laura and I went to Forty Hall Farm to plan what crops they'll be growing for us for the year ahead. Forty Hall is a manor house estate just 7 miles away in Enfield which has a productive organic market garden and vinyard. Beth has been head grower at Forty Hall for five years now and every year she expands her growing capacity and her produce gets better and better - I hope you agree that her tomatoes and Matt's salads have been amazingly tasty this year.  Next year we can look forward to more tomatoes and salad as well as aubergines, peppers, more of those lovely multi-coloured french beans and purple sprouting broccoli as well as some more heirloom varieties of veg.

It also makes a great day out - the farm is open to the public on Weds, Saturday and Sunday. As well as the veg growing they have pigs, goats, some very friendly sheep and fancy looking chickens. Well worth a visit.
